Jeep Grand Cherokee Earns Top Safety Pick Rating From IIHS

Jeep wants everyone to be able to experience the excitement of setting out for your own adventure. Part of that excitement is knowing that you’re protected on your journey. That’s why the all-new Jeep Cherokee was built with state-of-the-art safety technology. It’s so safe, that it recently earned a Top Safety Pick Rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

When tested across six crashworthiness tests, the Cherokee was given the highest scores possible. These awards apply to all 2019 Jeep Cherokees manufactured after April of this year that are equipped with Automatic Emergency Braking technology, LED projector headlamps, and Forward Collision Warning-Plus. All of these features and over 80 more will also be available on the 2020 model of the Cherokee as well.

“This latest award is solid recognition for the Jeep Cherokee, an SUV that is not only recognized for being the most capable vehicle in its class, but also packed with more than 80 advanced safety and security features and benchmark 4x4 systems to help consumers tackle any terrain in all weather conditions,” says Jim Morrison, Head of Jeep Brand – FCA North America. “Jeep Cherokee provides the confidence and security to handle any journey."

The optional Forward Collision Warning-Plus utilizes uses cameras and radar detection in concert to more accurately identify impending collisions. At first, it will alert the driver, and if no action taken to avoid the crash, the feature can activate the brakes to minimize the damage in the collision.

This latest recognition of the quality and capability of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee further proves that Jeep it’s just about the adventure—it’s also about getting there safely.
